Subject: Marine Debris Updates - Calendar Contest + AFE
Input Opportunity
Greetings All,
Hope this message finds you well. I wanted to send a few quick updates on
marine debris-relevant events and opportunities:
1) Alaska Forum on the Environment - Call for
Presentations through November 22, 2017 We're continuing to work on planning
the marine debris sessions at the next Alaska Forum on the Environment (AFE),
which runs February 12-16, 2018.
The call for presentation ideas through the AFE website
is open through November 22, 2017.
Additionally, if you have any ideas on topics, speakers,
or themes you'd like to see included in the marine debris sessions, or have
ideas on a talk you'd like to present yourself, please send a note to Peter
Murphy - peter.murphy@noaa.gov<mailto:peter.murphy@noaa.gov>
and Erika Ammann - erika.ammann@noaa.gov<mailto:erika.ammann@noaa.gov>.
2) Marine Debris Art Contest - Open Through November 30,
2017 This year’s NOAA Marine Debris Program Art Contest is now officially open
for grades K-8! Through this contest,
students can submit their original art works and have the chance to be
published in the 2019 edition of the annual marine debris calendar. Students can submit their artwork through
November 30th, and more information on the contest and rules can be found on
our website<https://marinedebris.noaa.gov/>.
There you can also find other educational materials on marine debris, including
some great videos!
This year's competition focuses on entries that answer
one of two questions:
- How does marine debris impact the oceans and Great
Lakes?
- What are you doing to help prevent marine debris?
Best regards, and thanks for your continued interest and
engagement in the issue of marine debris!
-Peter
NOTE - You are receiving this email based on sign-ups at
a previous marine debris workshop or event, or request by email. If you would like to be removed from this
distribution list, just reply to this email and let us know.
