I
am sorry to be writing to you to share the sad news of Rita Beard's passing.
Those of us who knew Rita and had the honor of working with her in any capacity
know what a great loss this is for all of us. She was an iconic figure in the
weed world devoting time to the USFS and the NPS as well as working on issues related
to invasive species at the national level. Rita was responsible for the
oversight of invasive species management issues within the NPS for many years
including ensuring a robust and successful EPMT program. She was also an
integral part of a dynamic FICMNEW in its early days.
We
will miss her greatly and honor her years of service and lasting legacy.
As
